This Body – It’s Held Life, Carried Weight, and Still Shows Up For You

Amy Brothwell-White

There’s a quiet grief many women carry.

A grief for the body that once felt lighter, firmer, more predictable…
And a guilt for even thinking that, when we know our bodies are extraordinary.

We tuck it away — under clothes that no longer fit the same, in mirrors we avoid, in the way we shrink from photos or hide behind “I’m fine.”

But this is not the end of your relationship with your body.

This is the moment it changes — into something far deeper, softer, and more powerful.

Because this body? It's carried the weight of:

  • of grief
  • Maybe it's held life
  • of growth
  • of change
  • of illness
And it still shows up for you — every single day.

A Body That Remembers

Your body remembers every chapter you’ve lived —

  • The nights you didn’t sleep.
  • The birth you gave, or the dreams you lost.
  • The anxiety that sat in your chest.
  • The illness that reshaped your days.
  • The joy that made you dance barefoot in the kitchen.
  • Much more we care to think of!

Every line, every scar, every stretch mark is not a flaw —
It’s evidence of existence.

You’ve lived. You’ve survived. You’re still here.

When Did You Stop Trusting Her?

There’s often a moment, quiet or loud, where the trust between mind and body slips.
Maybe it was after a diagnosis. A difficult birth. A hysterectomy. A illness. A loss. A traumatic event. A heartache.

Maybe your body changed before your heart was ready.

But she’s not the enemy. She’s not broken.

She’s adapting. Guiding. Communicating in ways we’ve never been taught to honour.

What if your body isn’t the problem?

What if she’s the wisest part of you?

Let’s Redefine Strength

Strength is not just found in endurance.
It’s found in softness too — in knowing when to rest, when to say no, when to listen.

It’s in the courage to stand in front of the mirror, place your hand on your heart and say:

“I still belong to myself.”

It’s in the decision to nourish your body, not punish it.
To speak to it with kindness, not control.
To recognise that confidence doesn’t come when the weight drops, or the lines fade — it comes when love arrives.

You’re Allowed To Evolve

This body may not be who you once were.
But she’s who you are now — and she is worthy of love, respect, and care.

You don’t have to love every inch. But you can begin with acknowledgement.
You can begin with a whisper:

“Thank you for carrying me through.”

Your Next Step: Reconnection, Not Reinvention

If this resonates — if you’re ready to meet your body again with gentleness and curiosity — I invite you to explore this work further with me.

Together, we’ll look at the deeper layers:

  • The beliefs you carry
  • The stories your body holds
  • The way you speak to yourself
  • And the life you want to build from a place of true self-trust

You can book a soul-led 1:1 coaching session or one of my tailored support packages, designed to meet you where you are — body, mind and heart.

There are moments in the year when the energy feels different. Thinner somehow. Charged. The Lions Gate Portal — peaking on 8th August (8/8) — is one of those moments.

When we think of the word confidence, many of us picture someone who’s loud, outgoing, and always knows what to say.
